Gary, placing first in the NVA Derby with Duke in 2002.

GaryJagoda died of a massive heart attack while running Cash at the GSP of Eastern Iowa field trial March 26th:

I was truly shocked when I heard of Gary's passing. I was at a field trial this morning getting ready to run a dog when Linda pulled up and told me of the tradegy. The vast majority of the issues that confront this breed, Gary and I saw pretty much eye to eye on. The were some that we disagreed on, but the thing about Gary was that he was as honest as the day was long. You always knew exactly where Gary stood. Over the 25 years or so that we have known Gary, I can't ever remember him back stabbing or tearing someone down.

Knowing of his love and friendship of John, and knowing what winning the Midwest Vizsla Shooting Dog Championship last year with Cash, and what that would have meant to John, was well worth the entry fee. That was a bond that could never have been broken. They now share the old times again, running some of the best dogs

this breed has ever produced. For Gary, there was Sarge and Danny. You are truly going to be missed my friend. Those long hours of sitting around after the trial and finding many of the bottoms of the bottles, your laughing and singing will be remembered. Your willingness to help others will never be forgotten. For me personally, my last memories will be of the 2004 nationals, others will be the NVA nationals.

Farewell my friend and may you enjoy your new adventures of field trialing over the bridge. You have definately earned your membership into that club.

MVVC EVENTS

HUNT TEST SEMINAR AND TEST
We substituted two successful events for our Spring Field Trial. Since no one volunteered to chair or secretary the Spring field trial we had the potential to lose $1200. Jan Wallace, Debby Lynn, Linda Rogers and Bob Long stepped up to give our first Hunt Test Seminar followed by a Hunt Test in place of our Spring Field Trial. Instead of losing the potential $1200 we lost only $400, $100 more than our average field trial loss.

Once more, testimonials from our participants ranked our seminar an 8.6 on a scale of 10!

  • Seeing my dog recognize a bird scent & locate his first bird was the highlight for me
  • The highlight of the seminar for me was realizing how much my dog already knew instinctively and how much he enjoyed it

RESCUE CORNER

We are fortunate to have several volunteers
who work miracles for the dogs that they help.
Recently we have had several dogs flood
rescue in OH. Coming to the forefront to foster and evaluate was
Sharon Simpson, and in response to pleas for help Marge Cox, Todd Strasser, Dave Sippola.

Priceless is Karen Fischesser. She has transported, evaluated and fostered many
dogs in the last couple of months. Rescue would not be as successful
as it has been without all of you.
Thank you!
Pam Williams, OH/WV VCA Rescue Coordinator

I am proud to announce the first champion from the Bud/Leitz litter --
Champion CMF Leitz My Fire.

Not yet a year old, Flint won his third major to finish last Thursday at the Peach Blossom Cluster in Perry, GA. Also, Flint won a Sporting Group 2 in the Puppy Best in Show competition that day. The trip was short with Mike Szabo on the lead -- taking less than 5 weekends.

Flint's sister, CMF AC Northern Leitz is following close behind. She only needs a couple of points to finish.

PRESIDENT'S CORNER

Thanks to Jan Wallace and Linda Rogers for turning the field trial weekend into a successful training day and hunt test at Indian Creek in April. With the short notice, it took a lot of hard work, but I heard everything went off well.

The spring meeting and fun day will be held at the Kayser’s on May 21, 2005. The board meeting will be held @8:30 am, general meeting @9:30 am, followed by the fun day. The election of officers is scheduled for this meeting, so all members should plan to attend, and stay for a day of enjoyable activities with our Vizslas (this is their day too!).

As you may recall from our last general membership meeting, MVVC voted to host an agility trial in conjunction with BRAG. Due to the interest of some members, the Board is looking into the matter further before proceeding.

The spring hunt test in June is a go. Thanks John and Cindy Nix for organizing the event, at the Keeton’s grounds. Watch for the premium in the mail, and it can also be found on our web page.

http://www.mvvc.org/forms/hunttestjune05.pdf

The Specialty is on track as always, with Margaret and Pam in charge. Margaret is still in need of trophy donations. Please call and help MVVC out. Holly Hatfield is in charge of the raffle. Call her with your donations.

Volunteers have been found for both fall field trials. Watch for the premiums.

I would like to thank all of you who have supported the club over the past three-years that I have been President. This club has a core group of good people who are willing to do what it takes for the wellbeing of the breed. We need to strive for harmony and cooperation, while supporting all our events, addressing club responsibilities, and sharing the burden of the work that is involved.

MVVC President
Tim Hampp

Rhoda motioned she contact WI to co-host Nationals and look into doing as a consortium, Linda 2nd, passed (14 votes).
