From the Heart of Ohio

  • The first Vizsla club in Ohio was the Vizsla Club of Ohio which began in 1965
  • The only other Vizsla club in the midwest at that time was the Vizsla Club of Illinois
  • Both the Vizsla Club of Greater Cleveland (VCGC) and the Miami Valley Vizsla Club (MVVC)
    originated from the Vizsla Club of Ohio.
    • In 1968, The Vizsla Club of Ohio changed it name to the Vizsla Club of Greater Cleveland.
    • In 1969, the Miami Valley Vizlsa Club began from a seed group of the Cleveland Club who lived in Southern Ohio
  • MVVC began with 26 members
  • Charter MVVC members are:
    • Paul Rothan, first President of the MVVC, in 1969
    • Hilda Boggs, first Vice President of the MVVC, in 1969
    • Clif Boggs, first Secretary-Treasurer & Newsletter Editor of the MVVC, in 1969

    • Shirley Rothan
    • Marylee Sloan

  • The Club's first sanctioned field trial was held March 1, 1970
  • The Club's first sanctioned water trial was held August 9, 1970
  • The Club's first licensed field trial was held March 6-7, 1971
  • The Club's first sanctioned match was held July 12, 1970
  • The Club's first speciality was in conjunction with the Clermont County Kennel Club, on May 31, 1976.
    • Clara Kayser was the first chair of the specialities.
