"Sage"
Placed September 2011
Sage's family had to release her to rescue, but they kept her until we found her a new forever home. Thanks to the VCA's New York rescue coordinator, Sage is in a new home. She is much loved as the picture shows.
Many thanks to the family that released her for being patient as we tried to find a forver home for Sage.
Newest report from Sage's New Home:
I want to update you on Sage. As my wife likes to say, she is just what our broken hearts needed. Literally from the moment she arrived, she acted as if she was raised from a puppy by us. Sage is a very loving dog, very gentle if you offer her a biscuit by hand, and extremely playful. She comes when called. she absolutely loves to play ball and could play all day long. She is at the point of trust that I can take her outside off the leash and she does not run away. she comes when called. Sage is a perfect animal for us. Sage loves to run around the yard. Sage is so energetic, that it is hard to believe that she is ten, almost eleven years old.
When we go to bed at night, Sage joins us and does not push us out of bed. She sleeps soundly. She has her appetite back. We took her to MD for our youngest grand son's birthday and she was great in the car. Our grand daughter has a dog and the two got along. they seemed to have an understanding. They did not play together.
I can not thank you both enough for bring Sage and Kay & I together. She has a home for the rest of her life and she is loved so very much!

"Zoe"
Placed July 2011
Zoe is a three year old girl who was placed with a family 18 months ago. Although she is much loved, she is a very high energy girl. The family has a new child on the way, and they have made the decision to return her to Rescue.
Zoe needed to go to a home that will spend the needed time going to training classes, and use mental stimulation and possibly some performance training (agility, Rally, etc) to tire her.
Zoe is in Michigan with a family that has had Vizslas previously and is happy to have red velcroe dogs back in their home.

"Ruby"
Placed May 2011
She was surrendered by a family that loves her deeply, but felt that she needed to be in a different home. Love does not always solve the problems that some environments hold for a dog.
Ruby is a cuddle dog, is not showing any issues (only three days so far) in her foster home. She is extremely smart, could be a great competition dog. She is a tad straight in the shoulder, so going for the AKC National Agility Invitational might not be her future goal.
Ruby has been placed in Columbus, and is setteling into her new home.

"King"
King came to MVVC Rescue from a shelter. Because the person turning King into the shter, allowed the shelter to pass on his information, MVVC Rescue was able to contact the breeder. The breeder picked up King the next day.
MVVC Rescue is thrilled to have a wonderful breeder step up and take care of a dog he bred. |

"Jake"
Placed April 2011
Jake is a neutered male picked up on the roads of Northern Kentucky. MVVC Rescue received a call from the area shelter to come pick up this boy. Our guesstimate is that he is between 6 and 8 years of age. He has nice manners, is not used to walking on a leash-but that is a simple training issue.
His foster home says that he is fantastic with other dogs (they run a dog day care center). Jake is fine in a crate and has no bad habits. He was "stressed" when I picked him up to take him to the foster home, so riding in cars might not be his favorite place, but spending 10 days in a shelter will stress any dog. He wiling jumped in the car, into the crate.
He had gone to his new home in PA.

Dexter
Placed April 2011
Dexter is an almost 8 YO male (neutered) that was turned into rescue. Although he had been with the same family since puppyhood, they decided that he no longer fit with their family.
He curls up on the bed with his new housemates and his foster human happily. He has good basic commands.
Dexter is in a forever home! He will be with his owner all day, most days-watching her as she works. |

Boomer is a 6 month old neutered male picked up from a shelter 1/22/11. He is microchipped and we are looking for information on him from his owners who turned him into the shelter. It is probable that he came from one of the Mid-Ohio high volume breeders.
Boomer went to his forever home, a home that has had Vizslas for decades.

Ruby
Placed November 2010
Ruby came from a shelter, and has lived with three families. She is 6 years old and a gem in more than a name! The things we know about her: she has hunted, she ignores the cat loose at the shelter, she wags her tail at children. She does fine with other dogs- all breeds.
We have been in contact with most of her previous owners, and she is kid friendly- even toddlers that fall on her. She does not like crates for long periods of time, and she has a history of going over fences- we do not know if it is a boredom issue, or a habit. She is not bothering the fence at the foster home.
She is in a new home with a slightly older Vizsla.

Bell (was Old Lady)
Placed July 2010
Bell has gone to a new home with people in NC. The adopters specialize in "old folks." and Bell will join a couple of aged Greyhounds. A back yard, couches, and places to lay in the sun!
She was found running, more like walking, through the North Zanesville area. She does not have a microchip, nor did she have tags on.
MVVC Rescue members fostered her for less and 45 days .Their report after a week of living with Belle: Belle has been improving by leaps and bounds. Every day she is getting stronger, and there is a lot of spunk left in this old girl! She is eating well and sleeping less. Her respiratory infection is almost completely cleared up, and she is an angel about taking her pills. She is a typical vizsla in that she wants to be around us. She wags her tail when she first sees us in the morning or if we have been gone during the day, and she loves to chew on bones.
She is ornery! I've caught her trying to eat off of one of our plates, with her head in a garbage can, and trying to open the food bin. I forgot I had a baggie of treats in my purse - she found those and enjoyed all of them, making only a small hole in the bag. I probably wouldn't have noticed about the treats except Kit "told" on her and she had a receipt hanging off her lip :)

Placed May 2010
Luke (was Link) is an neutered male about 1 year old. He knows basic obedience and is a sweet boy. He was turned in to a shelter by the owner who didn't have time for him. He is a little slow to get comfortable with people, especially some men, but is fine once comfortable.
Luke was adopted by his foster Home.

Red (also know as Big Dog)
Placed May 2010
Red is a approx. 2.5 year old neutered male Vizsla that was in a rural Ohio humane society shelter for 8 months. They had no idea what breed he was. The shelter is an unusual one in that the dogs were well socialized, walked, and allowed to play together in safe groups. This time might have damaged some dogs, but Red seems to have thrived.
Red went to a new home in Pennsylvania with people who had previously adopted a Vizsla from our organization.

Sedona
Placed December 2009
Sedona was a rehome situation for a family that just could not cope with a dog that somehow missed the vital exposure to small children. For that reason she was not safe around children. In addition she had some resource guarding issues. All potential issues if children under 12 made a normal movement.
Sedona is with another Vizsla, in a household that has had rescues previously.

Titus
Placed October 2009
He is a 19 month old male turned in for reasons unknown, Titus, his brother and a female from another breeder were kept outside in a pen together. He came into rescue with no experience in a house. Was housetrained by his foster home before placing. He gets along with other dogs (the foster home runs a day care) and absolutely loves other bird dogs.. He has not shown any tendency to be a fence jumper, and is learning to be a Velcro Vizsla.
He is in his new home, is showing some of the normal"resettling" and 24 month old "I am changing" issues, but so far all is good. We look forward to having some new pictures! Jo Anne Davies |

Leila (renamed Tango)
Placed August 2009
Tango was turned into rescue by a family who kept her and her two housemates in a pen in their back yard. As her housemates were intact males (brothers) Tango had a litter before she was a year of age. Her only experience in living in a house was while her puppies were small.
Tango now lives in a family home with loving humans, a cat, and love. She is taking obedience classes, and is totally house broken. The image on the right was taken after a weekend of camping with her humans! They absolutely love her. Rhoda Ezell

Moxi
Placed October 1, 2008
Moxi is an 8 yr. old vizsla. She is spayed. She would do well with a family who again truly knows and understands the breed. She loves to be outdoors with someone and loves to be inside (after some activity) where she has a soft bed and blanket to feel warm and secure. She tends to get along with other animals, but places higher importance on humans and their affection. She does know commands like sit, down, off, and "cork screw" (where she spins in a circle). Izzy is a 7 Month old female puppy
She went to her new home in Pennsylvania after a month of foster care, and getting spayed. We look forward to a report from her new home and some pictures!
Reason for re-homing: Too much energy for our home. Three small children and no time to invest in training. Never registered
Personality: Submissive, very energetic, Fun to play with, smart
Behavior issues: Digging, jumping up on people, climbs fence, mouth on feet and hands
Comments from previous owners: Izzy is very loving, but needs to be the center of attention, constantly needs to physically be active. She is full of energy. Still in puppy stages. She is wonderful with other dogs. May be good for her to be with other dogs to get the energy out. We will miss her. She just wasn't the right fit for a family with little kids (2, 5, 8 yo)
